Steve Mynett - Photographer

Steve is a Vancouver-based photographer specializing in a documentary style of capturing live concerts. He holds a degree in Music from The University of British Columbia and a Certificate in Electronic Media Design from Langara College and incorporates his experience in these two backgrounds into his photographic approach. Drawing on his continued experience as a musician, Steve brings a unique approach to capturing on-stage moments. He is well known for his unobtrusive style that respects musicians onstage by never using a flash and the audience by working to maintain sightlines.

Steve works for The Cellar Restaurant and Jazz Club and Cellar Live Records having shot the majority of the promotional images for the Jazz Cellar and over 15 CD Releases. His other clients include Maximum Jazz (Brad Turner), Artist Jazz Recordings (Tom Keenlyside, Miles Black and Bob Murphy) and Boathouse Records (Hugh Fraser). He has shot for Coda Magazine and his photos have also appeared in The Vancouver Sun, The Globe and Mail, The Times Colonist and many other publications. In 2008, Steve was nominated for Photographer of the Year at the National Jazz Awards.
